Final Logo & Justification
What photoshop tools did i use and why?
In the process of making my logo i used a variety of different tools to changes things like colour and other things like size, or cut parts of the image out. The tool i used for changing the colour is called 'colour replacement tool' This is a circle that you hover over the image and click and hold down to fill in the parts of the image you want, you can change the size of the circle to colour small parts of the image. I also used a tool called the 'lasso', i used this to circle round parts of the image that i did not want, it helped because you can get into small parts of the logo that you cant delete with the eraser tool. Another tool that i used is the 'Magic Wand Tool' This allows to to select a colour of what you want to delete and only that colour is deleted, this is the more efficient way to delete parts of your image because it is quick.
Appeal to the target audience (colour, images, text)?
The logo i have designed fits in with my target audience nicely because is is not to masculine and not too feminine . It is the colour purple which suits the ages 16-35 year olds. The image looks like the letters are made out of wood and could link to a program that E4 shows on their channel. The text is bold and easy to recognise and also most importantly original. This helps it stand out from the rest of the competing channels.
How will you use it in your Ident?
The way I'm going to use this is that there is going to be a hammer bashing nails into the E4 logo onto a plain wall and one of the nails is going to fall of and the e4 logo is going to tip to the side and then the ident will end, its a very simple idea and I'm going to be improving it along the way as i get more ideas added and will be a lot different to the original idea, its is just a template of what we can work onto of and improve throughout our work so it can show progression.
How could you improve it?
We could improve the logo by adjusting the sizes of parts of the logo and play around with different pantone colours for purple and get the nearest we can find to E4 logo. The nails could be a different colour like grey to show that they are actually nails and not holes. We could also play around with the logo by switching them around and putting one on to of each other and just to experiment to find if we could come up with a better idea.
